World of birds

Lake District is a very special place for birds.

The fantastic multiplicity of habitats from England's highest mountains to coastal marsh provides a year-round haven for many different types of birds and wildlife. You can receive a lot of joy by obsreving wheatear and ring ousel (the mountain blackbird) ravens, buzzards, peregrines and in the eastern fells, England’s only pair of golden eagles. In areas of heather moorland still there is a possibility to find Red grouse. On the lakes you can find good numbers of goldeneye, waterfowl, goosander, tufted duck and many more.
